Thomas Richard Hare (29 August 1922〔”Who's Who 1992 “(London, A & C Black ISBN 0-7136-3514-2)〕 – 18 July 2010〔(Obituary )〕) was the Suffragan Bishop of Pontefract from 1971 until 1992.〔(Bishops of the Wakefield diocese )〕

He was born on 29 August 1922 and educated at Marlborough College and Trinity College, Oxford.〔The Daily Telegraph Issue 48,299 dated Tuesday 14 September 2010 Obituaries, p29〕 After World War II service with the RAF he was ordained in 1950 and began his ecclesiastical career with a curacy at Haltwhistle.〔“Crockford's clerical directory, 1995” (Lambeth,Church House ISBN 0-7151-8088-6)〕 Following this he was Chaplain to the Bishop of Manchester and then a Canon Residentiary at Carlisle Cathedral. Appointed Archdeacon of Westmorland and Furness in 1965,〔”Debrett's People of Today 1992” (London, Debrett's) ISBN 1-870520-09-2)〕 he ascended to the Episcopate seven years later and retired in 1992.
